Linus Shackelford was introduced to the cemetery business at the young age of nine.  He
worked at his father's cemetery from the ground up - cutting grass to becoming general
manager.  In 1978 Linus moved to Byram, Mississippi and progressed into other business
fields gaining extensive business management experience in the disciplines of sales,
marketing, advertising and public relations from local to national levels.  In the early nineties
Linus formulated plans to fulfill a lifelong desire to get back into the cemetery business by
developing one of the first cemetery developments in central Mississippi near the
Reservoir area.  In 1998 Linus moved to the Reservoir area and began developing
Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery.

Linus is a master's graduate of the ICFAU - International Cemetery and Funeral
Association University in conjunction with the University of Memphis at Fogelman's
International Business Center in Memphis, Tennessee.  In March of 2005 at ICFA's annual
international convention in Las Vegas, Linus received the CCE certification - the highest
achievement and Board Certification in the cemetery industry.  In the last 30 years this
certification has been awarded to only 210 individuals throughout the world for professional
cemetery operations.  Only two of those 210 were in Mississippi.  The first CCE recipient in
Mississippi was in 1986 to a now retired attorney and the second in 2005 to Linus
Shackelford.

In church and community involvement Linus represented First Baptist Church of Jackson
teaching bible studies to homeless and abused children at the Carres Center and to
patients at The Doctor's Hospital (now St. Dominic Chemical Dependency/Psychiatric
Services).  He also assisted delivering the Sunday sermon to the patients at the Doctor's
Hospital.  Linus was a regular and substitute Sunday school teacher at First Baptist
Jacksons and instructed the new member's class.  Linus and his wife Cynthia now attend
and serve Pinelake Church.

Making arrangements before need is handling a family matter.  Making arrangements at the time of
need is handling a family crisis.  Providing peace of mind is a loving thing to do.
